More than 200 million smartphone users worldwide now have Skype at their fingertips

Luxembourg and Espoo, Finland – Skype and Nokia today jointly announced the release of Skype for Symbian, a Skype client for Nokia smartphones based on the Symbian platform, the world’s most popular smartphone platform. Skype for Symbian will allow Nokia smartphone users worldwide to use Skype on the move, over either a WiFi or mobile data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G). It is now downloadable for free from the Ovi Store, Nokia’s one-stop shop for mobile content.

Skype for Symbian enables Nokia smartphone users to:
- Make free Skype-to-Skype calls to other Skype users anywhere in the world*
- Save money on calls and texts (SMS) to phones abroad
- Send and receive instant messages to and from individuals or groups
- Share pictures, videos and other files
- Receive calls to their existing online number
- See when Skype contacts are online and available to call or IM
- Easily import names and numbers from the phone’s address book

Skype for Symbian will run on any Nokia smartphone using Symbian ^1, the latest version of the Symbian platform. Skype will soon introduce this client to Symbian mobile devices from other manufacturers, including Sony Ericsson.

“Symbian enables us to bring smartphones to more and more people and ensures scale for our solutions and compelling services, such as Skype.

PayPal confirmed late last week that the Reserve Bank of India had given it the go ahead to restart bank withdrawals in the country for settlements for exports of goods and services.

However, the company’s Asia-Pacific boss Farhad Irani warned that personal payments remained switched off.

“We are currently making changes to comply with Indian regulations for settlements for exports of goods and services, and we anticipate that as of Wednesday, March 3rd, we will be able to resume the bank withdrawal service,” he said in a PayPal blog post.

“As part of the changes, you will be required to fill out a new field entitled ‘Export Code’ when you request a withdrawal. This information is required under the current laws of India in order to identify the nature of cross-border merchant transactions.”

The RBI told PayPal to get its house in order by getting specific approvals to allow personal inward remittances to India, which Irani admitted the firm doesn’t currently have.

“Until we get these approvals, personal payments into India will remain suspended,” he said.

“We know the past few weeks have been difficult and I would like to assure you that we have been working tirelessly to resolve the situation and restore our service. PayPal’s highest priority is to always ensure we comply with all applicable regulations everywhere we do business around the world.”

Google has offered a general explanation of how it ranks its search results, one day after the European Commission said it was looking into antitrust complaints against the company.

In a blog post Thursday, Google Fellow Amit Singhal also referred to a recent op-ed piece suggesting that regulators should control how search engines rank results. He stressed that developing search rankings is very difficult, implying perhaps that regulating search would be hard for any government to do well.

Laying out the challenge, Singhal said Google processes hundreds of millions of queries a day, with at least 20 percent of them totally new. To handle the volume and variety of queries, the company uses a collection of algorithms to sift through data.

“Our algorithms use hundreds of different signals to pick the top results for any given query. Signals are indicators of relevance, and they include items as simple as the words on a webpage or more complex calculations such as the authoritativeness of other sites linking to any given page,” he said.
On a typical day, Google makes one or two changes to the signals and its algorithms to try to improve results, he said.

The company doesn’t manually choose any results, however, he said. “We believe that approach which relies heavily on an individual’s tastes and preferences just doesn’t produce the quality and relevant ranking that our algorithms do,” he wrote.

To show there is room for improvement in its own rankings — and perhaps to suggest that Google doesn’t favor its own sites — he noted that the query “search engine” does not list Google in the top few results.

There is nothing in the post that Google has not revealed before, but the company said news of the Commission’s investigation had prompted “lots of questions” about how Google’s ranking works.

On Wednesday, the Commission confirmed it was looking into three complaints against Google in the preliminary stages of an antitrust investigation. Google pointed to Microsoft as the source of the investigation, since Microsoft owns one of the companies that complained and is linked to another.

One of the complaints was filed by Foundem, a U.K. price comparison site. Foundem’s co-founder wrote the op-ed piece that Singhal links to, which suggests that regulators should set rules for how search engines rank results. The editorial accuses Google of exploiting its dominance in search by displaying its own services at the top of search results, something that Google denies.

Do you have a crush on someone? Does someone have a crush on you? GoodCrush eliminates potential awkwardness and shyness from romantic interactions by offering simple, fun, and exciting ways to turn your crush into a GoodCrush – a match.

Use your 5 free crushes per month to match with the guy or girl in your math class, pique the interest of your friend, make that connection with your crush at the gym or brighten your friend’s day. Connect with new people at your school or turn a missed connection into a new opportunity. We’ll also keep track of the most crushed on – so have fun crushing and getting crushed on!

Here’s how it works:

if you work at Google and have a @google.com email address, you simply enter your name and that email address, and then enter the email address of up to 5 other people that work at Google that you have a crush on. If one of those people also enters you as one of their crushes, you’ll be connected. If the person you added as a crush doesn’t add you back, your name will remain anonymous.

What are GoodCrush “Missed Connections”?

Missed connections are a way to anonymously reach out to the girl or guy you passed in the quad, exchanged glances with at the football game, or chatted with for not-long-enough at the party last night. They’ll check the page and you can turn a missed connection into a Good Connection. If you would like people to be able to respond to your post, login before posting. One real example of a missed connections post is: “Spotted: tall dark haired guy in red forbes hoodie. hottie “

Josh Weinstein started GoodCrush as a student government project as the former VP of USG at Princeton University. Now, there’s a few of us working on GoodCrush out of Manhattan.

At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, Microsoft finally unveiled the latest version of Windows Mobile. The company took two years to develop the new OS, starting essentially from scratch. The result is a world class smartphone operating system and UI that actually has a chance to make Microsoft a player in the space again. The company has been operating in the mobile space for a while, of course, but after Apple and Google entered the market, Microsoft had no choice but to chuck its old OS in favor of a more competitive version.

To understand Microsoft’s approach to the market with Windows Phone Series 7, we need to examine the diametrically opposing ways its competitors develop products for the space. Apple epitomizes the closed approach. Google and the open source community, on the other hand, view smartphones as an open platform for design and innovation. While both approaches have merit, Apple’s move to drive software developers to write and support a specific OS has helped the company go from zero to 25 percent market share in less than three years. It has served the company well and has generated a lot of money for the developers of the iPhone’s more than 150,000 apps.

Google takes a vastly different approach. While the company does have a set of OS and UI guidelines for Android, its nature as an open source project means that companies can customize the operating system to help differentiate their version from the competition. This is a powerful approach, but it comes with some tricky issues for software developers. When I talk to app developers, they may complain about Apple’s App Store vetting process, but they all seem to hail the company’s SDK guidelines that force them to write to a single user interface and hardware specification. This means they can create applications faster. As long as they write to Apple’s iPhone conventions, their apps will work with the iPhone, iPod touch, and—soon—the iPad.

This isn’t always true for Android. Handset makers want to differentiate their devices from the competition, and in doing so, they may place hard-coded buttons one way and soft buttons another. Add the trend of making the UI touch-sensitive, and you have another layer of complexity. If a developer wants to write an app for Google’s Nexus One, their app has to be created specifically for that phone’s hardware and UI. If they want to create the app for the Motorola Droid, on the other hand, they may have to tweak it quite a bit.

Apple believes that the user should have a single UI on their device that can be used across similar devices, as part of a large ecosystem of products. On the other hand, while Android, mobile Linux, or even Nokia and Intel’s new Meego provide a solid open source approach to a powerful smartphone OS, the HTC Sense UI on the Hero phone is different that the UI on the Nexus One, forcing users to learn a new UI on each device.

In the tech community, we’re often hard on Apple or anyone who delivers a “closed” system. The one thing we often forget is the fact that most customers are much less enamored with UI choices. They want simplicity—products that are easy to use and consistent across platforms and devices. That’s a large part of the reason that Apple rose to a 25 percent market share so quickly. The iPhone is simple, easy to understand, and all of the apps work with the company’s uniform UI.

Microsoft is taking a page out of Apple’s playbook with Windows Phone Series 7. The company has delivered strict hardware and software guidelines to its partners. We won’t know the OS’s exact details until the MIX conference next month, but we can be sure that they will force all applications to be designed around a single hardware and software specification to ensure that any phone that has Windows Phone Series 7 on it will work the same. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was asked how handset manufacturers can differentiate their products, given the strict guidelines. The details, he told the press, will be revealed at MIX. If we use the Windows PC as a guideline, however, the answer emerges. Windows PCs come in all manner of sizes, shapes, and designs.

Microsoft is at least two years behind Apple in the smartphone market. The company is doing the right thing by making sure all Windows phones work and act the same. Like Apple, it can give smartphone developers a single OS/UI to work with that will ensure that any app written for the OS will work on any phone designed for it. This strategy serves Microsoft well in its core enterprise markets. Windows phones have had success in this space, and if there’s one thing enterprise buyers want, it’s consistency. With Windows Phone 7, enterprise buyers will have plenty of choices for hardware and carriers, while maintaining a single OS and UI across the company.

These new devices won’t be out until Q4, so its too early to tell if Microsoft really has a winner on its hands. Given the fact that it is creating an easy to use platform that is also easy to develop for, Windows Phone Series 7 has the chance to become one of the major smartphone platforms. The attempt to recreate its successful PC OS model may be controversial, but it’s probably the best chance the company has for re-gaining ground in the mobile space. (Courtesy: www.pcmag.com)

So far, user reaction to Rich Snippets has been enthusiastic — after all, Rich Snippets help people make more informed clicks and find what they need even faster.

We originally introduced Rich Snippets with two formats: reviews and people. Later in the year we added support for marking up video information which is used to improve Video Search. Today, we’re excited to kick off the new year by adding support for events.

Events markup is based off of the hCalendar microformat. Here’s an example of what the new events Rich Snippets will look like:

Events Rich Snippets : Blog.DirVenue.com

The new format shows links to specific events on the page along with dates and locations. It provides a fast and convenient way for users to determine if a page has events they may be interested in.

If you have event listings on your site, we encourage you to review the events documentation we’ve prepared to help you get started. Please note, however, that marking up your content is not a guarantee that Rich Snippets will show for your site. Just as we did for previous formats, we will take a gradual approach to incorporating the new event snippets to ensure a great user experience along the way.

Stay tuned for more developments in Rich Snippets throughout the year!

Notion Ink has a group of dedicated Indians working to build a tablet – Adam, Apple iPad’s worthy competitor. After the buzz over the web last week, the official specifications of this Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC powered device have been finalized, reports Gizmodo. The tablet, along with its official specifications, will be unveiled at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2010 at Barcelona. Notion Ink will make Adam available in June/July and will charge between range of $327-$800 (Rs. 15,700-Rs. 38,400 approx.) depending on the configuration.

In terms of specifications, Notion Ink’s Adam tablet clearly weighs more than Apple iPad – except the multi-touch supporting display with IPS technology. The Adam tablet runs dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPUs bearing Nvidia Tegra 2 System-on-a-Chip while Apple iPad uses company’s own A4 SoC silicon. Both SoC chips have capability of running at 1GHz clock speed.
Compared with iPad’s 9.7-inch IPS LCD with 4:3 aspect ratio, Adam will come with 10-inch Transreflective LCD PixelQi screen supporting 1024×600 at the same time. Low power consuming PixelQi screen will support full color along with a Black & White mode. Apart from that, Adam’s 10-inch screen is capable of displaying 1080p video playback, thanks to the Nvidia Tegra 2 which is also said to consume less power than its predecessor.

So, while iPad offers 10 hours web browsing on Wi-Fi and 8 hours of video watching experience, Notion Ink claims that Adam offers 16 hours of web browsing. The Adam also boasts of a 160 hour run time in backlighting off mode. While Apple sticks to Safari for iPad, Adam tablet will have Firefox and Chrome web browsers to support.

Adam’s one of the most noteworthy part comes with multiple operating system support – Android, Ubunty and Chromium. Compared to this, Apple has iPhone OS 3.2 running on the iPad. Another significant feature the OS support on Adam is that the Adobe Flash Player 10.1 support will exist for better web browsing experience. And, oh boy, the operating systems on Adam would support multi-tasking. These features could be a game changer for Adam.

For storage expansion, Adam has SD card slot while Apple sticks to SSD options with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options. For wireless connectivity Adam again has Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth, just like in the iPad. Apart from that, the Adam has ambient light sensor, RF sensor, Assisted-GPS, proximity sensor, accelerometer and touchpad. Adam also offers HDMI and three USB ports. While iPad has no camera, the Adam tablet sports 3 megapixel auto focus camera.

Except for multi-touch and IPS LCD panel, the Adam Tablet clearly wins over the Apple iPad in every possible way when compared on specifications level. Looks like Notion Ink has put everything that isn’t offered in iPad. Even on the price level, Adam has an advantage with start price of $327 (Rs. 15,700 approx.) while iPad’s starting price is $499 (Rs. 24,000 approx.).

At the MWC 2010, this India-based firm will officially unveil Adam along with specifications and we expect fireworks once it is made available in June-July period.

Indian composer AR Rahman has won two Grammy Awards at the prestigious US music ceremony in Los Angeles.

Rahman received awards for best film song and best soundtrack, both compositions for the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. Rahman won two Oscars, a Bafta and a Golden Globe last year for his soundtrack to the multi award-winning Slumdog Millionaire. The composer is often called the Mozart of Madras, the city where he works.

Rahman won in the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture. His Jai Ho song in the film also won in the best motion picture song. ”This is insane, god is great again,” Rahman said as he accepted his award.

Rahman beat such rivals as Quentin Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds and rock star Bruce Springsteen in the soundtrack and best song categories respectively.

Last month, Rahman was shortlisted for an Oscar nomination for his Tamil song NaNa from the Hollywood film, Couples Retreat. The song is vying with 62 others for the nominations which will be revealed on 2 February.

The 44-year-old composer is a musician with a staggering range – from raga to reggae to hip hop to Indian folk to jungle rhythms to western classical, our correspondent says.

Seventeen years after he began writing music and songs for films, the jingle maker-turned-musician finally got recognition as India’s first truly global film music composer with his score for Danny Boyle’s sleeper hit Slumdog Millionaire in 2009.

Sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, guitarist Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and tabla player Zakir Hussain are the other Indian musicians who have won Grammy Awards.

Google is spreading its wings in yet another direction – this time as a network provider, offering super-fast broadband to thousands of US homes. It plans to build a fibre-optic network offering speeds of up to 1Gbps (gigabit per second) to up to 500,000 homes.

It said it would compete on price with other broadband providers offering much slower speeds. Google said the trial was about promoting killer apps that would take advantage of fast speeds. “We planning to build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States,” the search giant said in its blog.

“We plan to offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people. We’ll deliver internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today,” it continued.

Growing Google
Google already has a fibre network which connects its data centres, speeds up search and lowers the cost of streaming video on YouTube. Now it plans to take this to the next stage and connect that network directly to consumers’ homes.

The network will be available for any service provider to use and Google is asking interested parties, from local government as well as members of the public, to sign up to the plan. The offer is part of Google’s expansion into controlling all aspects of a web user’s experience.

In late 2009 Google offered a service called public DNS, which it said would speed up web browsing for users. The domain name system is a series of databases that translate web addresses into computer readable numbers called IP addresses.

“The average Internet user ends up performing hundreds of DNS lookups each day, and some complex pages require multiple DNS lookups before they start loading,” Google wrote in a blog at the time. “This can slow down the browsing experience.” DNS requests are usually handled by a person’s Internet Service Provider (ISP).

In November 2009, the search giant also announced that it was working on a project to develop a faster version of http – which Google call SPDY – to speed up the transfer of content over the web. At the time, the firm said its lab tests had shown that web pages loaded “up to 55% faster” using the protocol.

Broadband expansion
The US, in common with countries around the world, is grappling with the best way to roll out next generation broadband. In the first month of his office President Obama promised to spend $7.2bn on new broadband infrastructure. The pot of money is available for smaller broadband providers and municipalities.

For Drew Clark, editor of US broadband comparison website BroadbandCensus, the impact of Google’s entry into the broadband market will depend on how many homes the network serves. “If it is 50,000 homes then that isn’t a lot. But if it is 500,000 then that is a statement to say it is in the market place competing with the likes of Verizon,” he said.

Verizon has made big investments in fibre networks, with plans to pass 18 million homes with its fibre-optic service by the end of the year. Rival AT&T has 17 million households in its network but its fibre network does not run all the way to the home. Google said it hopes its fibre network will act as a testbed for new applications.

Andrew Ferguson, editor of UK broadband website ThinkBroadband speculated as to what some of those killer apps could be.

“One idea would be to expand Google Streetview, so that you can play a movie of a route you wanted to take, so that when you are visiting a brand new area you will have a much better understanding of the area than is possible from simple static street view maps,” he said.

Google Buzz

When Google announced Google Buzz, its new social sharing feature for Gmail, company representatives admitted Buzz was inspired by a similar product: Google Wave. In fact, some of the features of Buzz and Wave are so similar you might be wondering why there are two different products in the first place?

Both services are supposed to help you create conversations and give you a richer experience around Web-based media like videos, images ,and regular text. But while Buzz and Wave have a lot in common, there also some key differences that set each service apart.

Wave and Buzz? What the heck are you talking about?

Google describes Wave as “an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration. A wave can be both a conversation and a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.” Basically, Google Wave is e-mail, instant messaging, an online collaboration tool and a wiki all rolled into one service.

But Google Buzz is designed solely to let you share videos, photos, links, and status updates with others just like you would on Facebook or Twitter. You can access Buzz through your Gmail inbox or through your mobile device’s Web browser.

Real-time communication versus e-mail conversation

Google Wave

While you will receive Buzz updates very quickly via e-mail, communication in Google Wave is much faster. Unlike Buzz, communication in Wave happens in real time, and you can actually watch someone typing out their response or comment on an individual wave. That’s a big difference, since it allows Wave users to easily collaborate on a project.

Wave is about collaboration, Buzz is about conversation

Wave was built on collaborative features like editing a document, planning an event, creating meeting notes, and so on. But if you just want to share photos, videos, or comments that don’t require real-time communication, then Google Buzz is probably the better option.

Waving is complex, Buzzing not so much

One of the problems with Wave is that it’s a difficult tool to explain to others, and once you understand what Wave is it’s even harder to understand everything you can do with it. Buzz, on the other hand, works similarly to e-mail and is focused on one thing: sharing content with others.

Buzz is a gateway to Wave

In a lot of ways, Buzz is a halfway point between regular e-mail and Wave. For example, when you get an updated Buzz in your inbox or Buzz tab, it displays the various comments and media that have been shared as a list. As the Buzz develops, that list gets updated and edited, but you only ever have one copy of an individual Buzz in your inbox.

Similarly, in Wave you only ever see one copy of an active wave, making it easier to track changes to a document or conversation. But new e-mail messages pile on top of one another, and it doesn’t take long before you end up with these massive conversation strings that are constantly being replicated every time you hit the reply button.

So my guess, as well as the guess of others, is that once you’re comfortable with Buzz, you might be more willing to use Wave for collaborative online projects. But the trick will be to get you to buy into using Google Buzz, and that may be a tough sell if you’re already used to sharing items with your existing networks on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.

What you can do in Google Wave:

Popular online payment service PayPal shocked several Indians and rest of the world by suspending payment transactions to and from India for more than a week. Anuj Nayar, spokesman from communications team for PayPal, posted on the official PayPal blog, that personal payments to and from India and the transfers to local banks in India have been suspended. This directly impacts several freelancers from various fields and businesses that depend on PayPal as a transaction gateway.

Though temporarily, PayPal has given a mini cardiac arrest to several India-based PayPal users by shunning payment transactions to and from India. Apart from that, these users can’t even transfer their funds to local Indian banks to withdraw their balance. All this was conveyed by a standard mailer that every India-based PayPal user received.

Here’s a standard mail sent to Indian users:

Hello USER,

Your payment of AMOUNT has been sent back to the sender of the payment.

We reversed this payment because we have stopped allowing personal payments to be sent to or from India.

If this was a payment for a purchase of goods or services, and not a personal payment, then you may contact the buyer and have him or her resend the payment as follows: (a) click the Send Money tab, (b) select Goods, and (c) provide a shipping address.

If this payment was a personal payment such as a gift, then we have requested that the sender find another payment method until we restore personal payments to and from India.

We are trying to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and we re sorry for any inconvenience.

Thank you,

PayPal

Nayar’s post indicates that the situation is temporary and the issue is to address the questions about the service that PayPal’s business partners and other stakeholders have.

Over the weekend, we met some bothered India-based PayPal users who were literally clueless on whether their funds would be recoverable ever. Advertising professional Kenroy Rodricks said, ” I’ve about $1,000 stuck in PayPal account which I can’t transfer or perform any transactions with. PayPal is my only gateway where I send and receive payments from clients abroad.” We’re sure that Nayar’s assurance to restore the payments as soon as possible will give a ray of hope to many such India-based PayPal users.

Let’s not forget a fact here that PayPal was acquired by eBay in 2002. Yes, it’s the same eBay that first bought Skype and 65 per cent stake of Skype to an investor group. We may not be surprised if PayPal undergoes the same process. What really freaks anyone out where books like ‘The Secret of Hacking’ Third Edition covers topics – How Hackers Hack Paypal account and credit card Hacking (fully untracable), are sold offbeing sold over the web.

Obsession of continuous improvement through innovation, efficiency and technology has always been Google’s mantra to success. It also shows the company’s interest towards its customers by offering them a product which delivers. We have seen a considerable efforts made by them in recent times like the super-minimalist homepage which is easy to browse, loads quickly and is not cluttered with advertisements which is nasty. A complete transformation in their search algorithms which gets you your search results at a super speed, and not to mention their Web-centric operating systems.

The company is growing, so are its products. Recently, it launched a product which would increase the speed of slow loading sites. Its known as Google Site Performance tool which is made available at the Google webmasters tool lab section. Its jam-packed with so many features like website analyses which would get your accurate data on average load time of the site, graphical demonstration of the sites performance before and after the use of the tool and how you could improve it, report generation on specific pages of the site and the tips and suggestions on how you could enhance your browsing experience are some of the coolest feature.

How would Google benefit by doing this? You may want to know. Its simple, when a website loads quickly, it helps in the loading of Google ads which gets them the revenue. Keep in mind, slow loading pages does affect the ads being loaded and minimizes the clicks drastically. Google would develop more tools in a future, one of them being sites ranked according to their speed, we are not sure how webmasters would react to this but we should not forget that from a viewers point it would be of great use.

Google Earth Outreach gives non-profits and public benefit organizations the knowledge and resources they need to visualize their cause and tell their story in Google Earth & Maps to the hundreds of millions of people who use them. You can start creating content easily in Google Earth using some placemark and balloon templates. By starting with a template design, you can stay focused on your content without having to know much at all about HTML or KML.

This video demonstrates how to copy and paste placemarks from a template to get you started creating compelling content in Google Earth. For the full tutorial, see the Google Earth Outreach website at: www.earth.google.com/outreach

And just like that, it’s official. Verizon Wireless has today announced that Motorola’s scrumptiously named Devour will be heading to its network next month, with it being the first VZW phone to feature Motoblur. Not that we’re seeing any surprises here, but a quick specification run down draws our attention to a 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, a touch-sensitive navigation pad, a pre-installed 8GB microSD card and Bluetooth support. Unfortunately, there’s no apparent mention of multitouch — and we wouldn’t expect it out of the box, since the Devour runs Android 1.6 — but we’re crossing our fingers (and toes, for that matter) for Google to sling that delightful Nexus One update to the rest of its high-powered Android phones in the very near future. There’s nary a mention of an asking price, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out as launch day approaches.

Finally Apple Inc. introduced the highly anticipated iPad tablet computer.

In general, I think, it was about what people had come to expect after months of speculation. As always, I expect Apple to add more bells and whistles to the thing — and drop prices — in six to 12 months. I might be a relatively early adopter, but I’m not bleeding edge, preferring to mull over a tech purchase and consider closely my own use patterns and needs.

That said, I sketched out some preliminary pros and cons of the iPad, as I perceive them. What am I missing? Here are Apple’s official tech specs for the iPad.

Pros
Price, application support, slick, iWork, iBooks and large screen are main reason for buying a ipad.

Cons
No camera, no flash support, no background application support, typing ergonomic , no phone option and above all no usb or hdmi cables.
