Google with Public DNS

Google Public DNS is a free, global Domain Name System (DNS) resolution service, that you can use as an alternative to your current DNS provider.

The DNS protocol is an important part of the web’s infrastructure, serving as the Internet’s “phone book”. Every time you visit a website, your computer performs a DNS lookup. Complex pages often require multiple DNS lookups before they complete loading. As a result, the average Internet user performs hundreds of DNS lookups each day, that collectively can slow down his or her browsing experience.

Guadi – find spoken words inside videos

Gaudi

Gaudi

Google Audio Indexing (Gaudi) is a new technology from Google that allows users to better search and watch videos from various YouTube channels. It uses speech technology to find spoken words inside videos and lets the user jump to the right portion of the video where these words are spoken. Google Audio Indexing is a showcase for speech technology. Political videos and election materials are a special case of broadcast news content, a domain that has received a lot of academic and industry attention and is known to perform well. By making the technology available to a wide audience, we hope to both offer a useful service and learn what our users think of this new technology.

Google Audio Indexing uses speech technology to transform spoken words into text and leverages the Google indexing technology to return the best results to the user.
The returned videos are ranked based — among other things — on the spoken content, the metadata, the freshness.
We periodically crawl the YouTube political channels for new content. As soon as a new video is uploaded to YouTube, it is processed by our system and made available in our index for people to search.

Google limits free news access, Too bad :(

If google stops you from accession news from his own news.google.com then don’t be shocked. Google is thinking to limit the news access due to some issues with media companies. Media companies claims that, google search engine is making profit from online news pages.

On this matter Google senior business product manager Josh Cohen said, “Previously, each click from a user would be treated as free,Now, we’ve updated the programm so that publishers can limit users to no more than five pages per day without registering or subscribing.” Google users may start seeing registration pages appear when they click for a sixth time on any given day at websites of publishers using the program, according to Mr Cohen.

Currently, users can avoid paying fees to newspaper websites and can access news from google at any time.
